High 5 Liverpool

Liverpool continued their rich vein in form by thrashing Aston Villa 5-0 at Anfield to close the gap with leaders Man Utd to a single point. The leaders suffered a shock loss to Fulham. With 8 games left, The REDS need to continue this kind of performance if they hope to end the title drought and preventing the MANCS from equaling the 18 titles haul so proudly by the REDS.

Four One and Loving It...

Unbelievable? Believe it!!! what a satisfying result indeed, capping a remarkable week for the REDS (they wore the grey strip in this game). A rare double over the bitter rivals and keeping alive the title challenge. It's Rafa 100th league win and to achieve it by thumping the MANCS is even sweeter. Untouchable? i don't think so. So cherish the moment Kopites..

Match Of the Week.. It's Liverpool V Man Utd

Here we go again, its the big match against Man Utd. For most of the fans it's one of the most anticipated game of the season (but not me, as i dreaded the game against the MANC especially at Old Trafford (OT) ). The stake is even bigger as a win would keep the REDS's title challenge alive. A win would cut the gap to 4 points and a rare double against the MANCS, but Man Utd will still have a game in hand. The REDS is on the back of the famous thumping of Real Madrid and morale is high. Torres and Gerrard is fit again, which is a welcoming boost. All in all, a great match is in store. Here are some of interesting facts about today's massive game

Liverpool recorded their first league win over United since April 2004 by winning 2-1 at Anfield early in the season

Liverpool last win in OT was in 2004 courtesy of Danny Murphy's penalty.

Expect goals as there has been only one goalless draw between the sides in the Premiership. That came at Anfield in September 2005

Liverpool have won just 14 times at OT in the league in 113 years. So a win should be celebrated to the max!

Fantastic 4, High 5 Liverpool....

Liverpool 4 Real Madrid 0. Waking up early in the morning and it is simply worth it.The REDS produced yet another vintage performance to see off the Madrid Giant (fyi Real Madrid has won more European Cups than any other club). Sceptics may say it's a flash in the pan kind of win, but who cares. Mind you, Real Madrid has won 10 or 9 straight games before their stuttering performace againts local and bitter rivals Athletico in La Liga last weekend (Torres's former club).

As usual this so call continental teams found it diificult to adapt to the blistering pace that the REDS set on early in the game. As a reward the REDS are up by 2 goal margin by the 28th minute courtesy of Torres and Gerrard goals. After the breather, Stevie G add the 3rd goal to add to Madrid woes in front of the Kop with a sweet strike with a half volley. It's game over for the man in white, as they need to score 4 times to win the game. (i think the last time Liverpool conceded 3 goals was again Chelsea which was 3 t o 4 years back). With the big game coming this weekend againts the Mancs, Rafa took out Gerrard, Torres and Alonso. Andrea Dossena than add up the fourth goal to make the win even sweeter. Final score Liverpool 4 Madrid 0.

This win hopefully will bolster the confident of the REDS for the Saturday game. i guess it's easier to win in Europe compared to win BPL matches againts Boro or Man City. For now lets savour yet another great win in Europe.

Its Liverpool V Real Madrid

Early Wednesday morning (around 3 in the morning malaysian time), Liverpool will entertain Real Madrid at Anfield for the 2nd leg of the last 16 UEFA Champions League(UCL). Liverpool hold a slim 1-0 (thanks to Benayoun's goal) lead over their spanish opponent. Here are a few interesting facts and stats on tonite's game:

Liverpool's European Record (overall): Pld 297 Won 170 Drawn 64 Lost 63.

Liverpool are aiming to reach the quarter-final for the fourth time in five years under Rafa Benitez.

Steven Gerrard could make his 100th European appearance for the club

Liverpool have won just three of their 13 home games against Spanish opposition and have failed to win any of the last six drawing three and losing three.

In the 29 ties where Liverpool have won the first leg away from home they have never been eliminated from European competition.
